"Cowboys Rumors: Micah Parsons Suspected of High-Ankle Sprain, Set for MRI Evaluation"

Even though the Dallas Cowboys escaped from Thursday's game against the New York Giants with a 20-15 victory, the big concern for the team right now is Micah Parsons' ankle injury.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said on Friday's episode of Good Morning Football that the "initial diagnosis" was a high-ankle sprain for Parsons, but the MRI will provide clarity on the severity of the injury

Parsons, who left the game late in the fourth quarter and was carted from the sideline to the locker room, told reporters he has an MRI scheduled for Friday after his X-rays came back negative.

The injury occurred when Parsons lined up in the middle of the defensive line. He was engaged with Giants center John Michael Schmitz Jr. and at the same time, Giants guard Greg Van Roten fell down and landed on the back of the Cowboys star's lower left leg.

Parsons was able to walk to the sideline, albeit with a noticeable limp. He was then taken from the sideline to the locker room on a cart to undergo X-rays.

Head coach Mike McCarthy had no update on Parsons during his postgame press conference.

Parsons was one of two key Cowboys defenders who was injured during the game. DeMarcus Lawrence didn't return after leaving the third quarter with a foot injury, but said afterward he will be fine. Ed Werder of WFAA noted Lawrence will also have an MRI on Friday.

The Cowboys do have the benefit of two extra days off by playing on Thursday night, so Parsons and Lawrence will get additional time to heal. Their next game is against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Oct. 6.

Parsons is off to a slow start this season under new defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer. The three-time Pro Bowler does have six quarterbacks hits, but just one sack through four games.
